Studio Practice: Ink Works

The new drawings were done in acrylic based ink and Hydrus— liquid watercolor (top to bottom). I am working finding a way to work with all this ink, since my usual way doesn’t really fit. I tried painting out all the features then just adding a splash of the dripping red ink on the top. I’m not sure if it is too literal. The bottom one with the Hydrus seemed to just become a wet mess quickly so I had to stop working it early. However, these were the 2 in the great pile that turned out presentable enough to post. Enjoy.

The moral of the story is never go to Michael’s Craft Store when you are for real. They don’t know anything about ink. I need to get down to the real places where they actually have decent inks.
